A Review of the Philippine Multimedia Industry
Multimedia is a large and growing industry that combines the state's premier industries of computer technology, entertainment and software services. Multimedia is interactive presentation that combines digital video, sound and text delivered via Internet, CD-ROM disc or interactive television. Multimedia is changing the way people are entertained, educated and receive information. The video component includes illustrations, animation and photos. Sounds include speech as well as sound effects. The complexity of the presentation requires advanced computers and software, both for production and reception
The multimedia industry in the Philippines, being a relatively young yet a successful growing industry, is popularly known and developed worldwide. Philippines has competitive professionals who have been involved in a wide range of multimedia productions. Our country is composed of experts in the Philippine Multimedia industry who are highly creative in layout, design, concept, and content. They are well-trained and experienced in Multimedia and Communication. They have considerable expertise in producing high quality, and cost-effective multimedia productions for their clients.
Through the help of Multimedia, Call Center Industry countinues to invade Philippines because of its competitive professionals which helps our country very much. As a matter of fact, labor shortages continue to plague Philippine Call Center Industry. According fo Raffy David, a director of the CCAP and director of call center firm Pilipinas Teleserv, "The contact sector accounted for 112,000 employees in 2005.This is expected to increase to 179,200 or a 60% growth by the end of 2006. The problem lies because there is so much demand for contact center workers, while the talent pool continues to dwindle."
David said the contact center industry will continue to grow, and that demand will further spike to more than half a million seats come 2010.
Indeed, Philippines continue to soar high in Multimedia Industry. In addition, a team of young Filipino Gamers are hopeful to get a medal finish at the upcoming World Cyber Games 2006 Finals, to be held in Italy this October.
The increasing popularity of casual games has given the local online gaming market another new area to spur growth, research firm IDC has indicated in its latest report. IDC’s study also revealed the country led the ASEAN region, specifically consisting of Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand, in percentage subscription revenue growth. The Philippines totaled .56 million in subscription revenue in 2005, growing by approximately 72 percent over 2004, the study said. In 2005, the Philippines held a 1.1 percent market share of the APEJ (Asia Pacific excluding Japan) region’s total subscription revenue of $ 1.39 billion. The region’s market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 21 percent from 2006 to 2010 reaching .6 billion by 2010.
In my own opinion, our country will continue to soar high in Multimedia Industry and will continue to give its best to be the finest.
